James Cook University now has a full Research Portfolio of all its researchers. The site is now available and will be released world-wide on 23 May 2013.

The Research Portfolio is a showcase of the current researchers at James Cook University (JCU) and aims to present as much interesting, useful, and helpful information about our researchers as possible.

Information is sourced on a regular basis from corporate databases, publication sources, and more, and is displayed in a clean and consistent fashion that's easy to understand. Researchers can also self-contribute information where the information has not already been associated with their profile - including a biography, interests, experience, honours, physical locations, and a high-resolution self-portrait.

Visit http://jcu.me to see the site. You can submit feedback on the site and we'd love to hear from you.

The Research Portfolio was released to the world at large in May 2013.

The project is a joint effort between the JCU eResearch Centre and Research Services.

On the 13th of March, Marianne Brown presented the work that has been undertaken at JCU around creating a research data repository. One tool that has been created to help promote JCU's research is the Research Portfolio system. The presentation is now available on ANDS YouTube channel for those that may have missed it.

CliMAS - Climate Maps for Australian Species

The eResearch Centre recently completed a 12 month project to build a suite of tools to assist researchers and the general public gain an understand of the possible impact of climate change on Australian terrestrial vertebrate.

Currently there is a general lack of engagement and knowledge transfer between professional researchers and end-users of research (general public, conservation managers, decision-makers, etc.). This is reflected in a general lack of acceptance and acknowledgement by the public and stakeholders of the potential impacts of climate change, particularly on biodiversity.

Recently, researchers have begun to endeavour to make the results of their research public, however there are currently very few channels through which to communicate projected impacts on biodiversity. The CliMAS tool suite aims to address this issue.

The Climate Adaptation 2013 conference will be a major Australian forum focusing solely on climate change impacts and adaptation. It brings together scientists and decision makers to share knowledge and experiences and to build partnerships for action. This year it will explore the way forward in a world where impacts are increasingly observable and adaptation actions are increasingly required.

Early bird registration is open until the 11 April 2012.

The conference will bring together 600-800 attendees from across the stakeholder community, including policy-makers, decision-makers, business and researchers, to discuss these important ideas around adaptation.

For more information, please visit the website: www.nccarf.edu.au/conference2013.
